We have three new iPads coming to the library! They will be available for students to use in the library for assignments, research, etc. I’m just processing them now and they will be available to sign out next week!
The Library now has a colour printer. After years of students inquiring if they could print in colour in the library, now they can. Most of the computers in the library will still be connected to the old black and white printer and printing on it will still cost 10¢ per page. The three computers outside of Mrs. Husieff’s office are the only computers connected to the colour printer. Please make sure you use one of those printers if you wish to print in colour. Colour printing will cost 25¢ per page.
If you have a suggestion for a book or resource that the library doesn’t have, email Mrs. Husieff at husieff_l@sd36.bc.ca with your suggestion. We consider every one carefully.
Welcome to Elgin Park Library, your guide on the information superhighway. Students nowadays have to navigate a vast array of information sources to access the knowledge they are going to gain in school. Information doesn’t only come from the limited number of books on the shelf anymore. Websites, databases, videos, blogs, wikis, and any number of other sources provide information that students must navigate, evaluate, access, and synthesize in their research quest. The library is the hub of all of these information sources. We can guide you to the right book, help you locate the best website, provide you access to online databases, and help you evaluate the quality of the information you are receiving. We will also teach you how to use all of this information in an ethical manner so that you do not get accused of plagiarism. Sounds like a lot, but that is what we are here for. Come in and check us out (and a book too)!
